The Week In Music: News From August 10th to 16th.
This week has seen an absolute whirlwind of news from the music world. For starters, there’s been a heavy downpour of new releases from the likes of Dua Lipa, Madonna, Miley Cyrus and a string of other stars.
The music scene has also been riddled with its fair share of controversies. The most problematic one being on ‘WAP’ by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion. Both rappers have had to fight off a swarm of criticism surrounding their track.
And finally, on a lighter note, this week has also been witness to some brilliant chart wins. So, all in all, the weather’s been simply mad out here, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.
So, pull out your umbrellas and prepare for a storm like no other!

2. Billie Eilish just scored her first No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart with ‘my future’.
3. BLACKPINK has a new partner in crime and she goes by the name, Selena Gomez. The young star confirmed a collaboration with the band and it’s slated to drop on August 28th.
4. Demi Lovato recently took to Instagram to tease a snippet of a brand new track. Titled, ‘D7’ the teaser featured a fine set of electro-pop beats paired with introspective verses.
5. Harry Styles just earned his very first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with his light, summer anthem, ‘Watermelon Sugar’.
6. Charlie Puth recently joined forces with the up and coming rapper, blackbear, for a brand new track titled, ‘Hard on Yourself’. Layered with tinkling guitar riffs and pretty harmonies, this tune encourages self-love and acceptance.
7. SuperM has shaken up the Kpop world with the release of their groovy single, ‘100‘. Featuring high-energy raps and futuristic visuals, this tune arrives with a spoonful of adrenaline.
8. Burna Boy set the music world ablaze with his latest album, “Twice as Tall”. The record features a string of remarkable artists like Chris Martin, Stormzy, Naughty by Nature and more.
9. Miley Cyrus just made her landing with ‘Midnight Sky’. Featuring sparkly synths, husky vocals and bright, psychedelic visuals, Miley shows us that she was indeed, born to run.
10. Dua Lipa just put out her star-studded remix of ‘Levitating‘ featuring Madonna, Missy Elliott and The Blessed Madonna. Each star brought their own flavour to the track, crafting it into an electro-pop masterpiece.
