Anna Wintour Debunks Myths About Her Persona

Recently, Anna Wintour clarified a number of misunderstandings regarding her public character. Speaking to the BBC about her role and the new VOGUE: Inventing the Runway show in London, the 75-year-old fashion pioneer and renowned Vogue editor-in-chief shared her thoughts on her public persona.

Wintour, who is well-known for her distinctive blonde bob, dark sunglasses, and composed manner, has frequently been likened to Meryl Streep's character Miranda Priestly, the icy and dominant editor in ‘The Devil Wears Prada’. When Wintour addressed this issue at the West End gala opening for the 2006 film's musical version, she said that the public and her coworkers will have to determine whether any similarities exist.

She also refuted the assumption that she never hears the word "no" because of her job in the fashion industry, claiming it is untrue. "No" is not just a reality for Wintour, but it is also something she values. When asked if she may be scary to others, she said she hoped they wouldn't.

Wintour has been the inspiration behind the Met Gala since 1995. Since 1988, she has led Vogue, and in 2020, she boosted her influence as Condé Nast's global editorial director and chief content officer. Despite her long and illustrious career, she said she has no immediate plans to leave her job.
