Austin Butler Stars in Darren Aronofsky’s Gritty ‘Caught Stealing’ – First Trailer Drops

In his most recent picture, ‘Caught Stealing’, which was directed by Darren Aronofsky, Austin Butler is delving deeply into the gritty, vintage New York underground. The first official trailer for the film was released by Sony Pictures. It is set in the crime-ridden streets of Manhattan in the 1990s and promises an exciting mix of mystery, brutality, and survival.

Austin Butler portrays Hank Thompson in ‘Caught Stealing’, a former high school baseball star whose aspirations have long since dimmed.  After Hank's eccentric British neighbour Russ (played by Matt Smith) invites him to cat-sit, his world takes a dark turn. Now working as a bartender, Hank and his girlfriend, Zoë Kravitz, live a simple life. When mobsters attack Hank because they think he is someone else, what begins as a straightforward favour swiftly devolves into mayhem.

As the video progresses, it becomes evident that, despite his ignorance of their targets, Hank is being pursued by a number of criminal organisations.  Hank is merely attempting to support his team's improbable baseball run, make ends meet, and maintain his tranquil existence, but the city's criminal underbelly has other ideas, according to the official synopsis.  The narrative tracks his valiant attempts to live and learn the reason behind his entanglement in this lethal game.

According to reports, Austin Butler and Aronofsky became friends during the 2022–2023 awards season when Austin Butler marketed ‘Elvis’ and Aronofsky went on tour with ‘The Whale’.  The actor named ‘Requiem for a Dream’  as a defining watching experience, revealing in an interview that he had been a fan of Aronofsky's work since he was in his early teens.  Their decision to collaborate was simple and exhilarating because of that admiration.

After appearing in ‘Dune: Part Two’ and ‘The Bikeriders’, Austin Butler makes his big-screen comeback in ‘Caught Stealing’.  Additionally, he will feature in Ari Aster's thriller ‘Eddington’, which is scheduled for release on 18th July.  The film marks Kravitz's first acting appearance since ‘Blink Twice’, her directorial debut.

One of the most anticipated thrillers of 2025 is ‘Caught Stealing’, with its dark humour, high stakes plot, and gritty urban setting.  The movie will hit theaters on 29th Augus.
