Beyonce’s First Oscar ?

The 92nd Academy Awards announced their shortlists for various categories like Documentary feature , International Film Festival , Music (original) and others and guess who’s on it? Beyonce!!

Queen B got nominated for her song “Spirit” from Lion King that released earlier this year. “Never Too Late” is another song from the same movie that got nominated for the Original category. Lion king was the only movie from which two songs got nominated!

Beyonce’s song “Spirit” was not only featured in the movie, Lion King, but also on her album “The Lion King; The Gift” featuring artists like Burna Boy , Donald Grover and Blue Ivy Carter.

We hope that Queen B gets the recognition she deserves unlike the snub she received at the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards where her Netflix documentary “A film by Beyonce” which was nominated for six categories and lost in every single one of them.

Sadly the list did not include Taylor Swift’s latest original song for the upcoming Cats adaptation called “Beautiful Ghosts” which should have been considered.The song was written and sung by Taylor and we’re still not sure why it didn’t make the cut.

Other artists like Pharrell Williams and Elton John are some of the other few lucky artists who made it to the shortlist.The Academy’s 300-member committee chose 15 songs from 75 entered. The list will be trimmed down to five each after which voting for the nominations begins in the 2nd of January 2020. Nominees will be announced January 13th 2020 and we’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed!
