The screenplay for the movie was written by Katie Silberman and based on a story by Carey and Shane Van Dyke along with Silberman. The movie also stars Gemma Chan, KiKi Layne, Nick Kroll and Wilde.

It was revealed in September 2020 that Styles, who made his feature movie debut with 2017’s ‘Dunkirk’, had taken LaBeouf’s position. Wilde revealed the first look of Harry Styles’ character in February 2021 and a glimpse of Pugh’s the next month.

In an Instagram post, Wilde commended Styles’ ‘humility and grace’ when they were filming and spoke out against male actors who are reluctant to take supporting roles in female-led films – noting that Styles was an exception.
