‘Hollow Knight: Silksong’ Fans Spot New Hint About Possible Release Timing

A fresh hint regarding the release window for 'Hollow Knight: Silksong' has surfaced, suggesting that the long-awaited sequel may not arrive until after June 6, 2025. While Team Cherry has yet to confirm an exact date, this new detail could help narrow down when fans might finally get their hands on the game.

As the highly anticipated follow-up to 2017’s Hollow Knight, Silksong has kept fans waiting since its reveal in early 2019. Despite six years of development, official updates have been scarce—until recently. During the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct in April, it was confirmed that Silksong is now targeting a 2025 launch. That announcement rekindled hope, and now, fans may have uncovered an additional clue.

A Reddit user, JizzX69, pointed out a listing on Nintendo Japan’s website that mentions Hollow Knight: Silksong among titles expected to release after June 6, 2025, on the upcoming Switch 2 console. According to the translated details, this implies the game will not be part of the console’s initial launch lineup and might release later in the year.

Nintendo Listing and Museum Exhibit Hint at a Later 2025 Release

Adding more intrigue, another Reddit user, TomNook5085, highlighted an upcoming exhibit dedicated to Silksong opening at ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image) on September 18. The exhibit will include a playable build of the game and insights into its development and visual style. This has led some to speculate that the game may be released before the exhibit opens, which would place the launch somewhere between June 6 and mid-September.

While this has sparked renewed enthusiasm among fans, many are still cautious. Development timelines are unpredictable, and nothing has been confirmed by Team Cherry. It’s entirely possible the ACMI exhibit could serve as a promotional event for a later release rather than follow shortly after a launch.

Still, the recent uptick in activity—especially following years of near silence—suggests that Silksong is getting closer to completion. The community is now turning its attention to the Xbox Games Showcase on June 8. Although no official word has been given, the game did appear in the 2022 showcase, giving fans hope it could show up again.

Whether the wait ends this summer or closer to the end of 2025, one thing is certain: Hollow Knight: Silksong continues to be one of the most anticipated indie games in recent memory.
