‘Master of Puppets’ By Metallica Debuts on The Billboard Hot 100

Metallica’s timeless song ‘Master of Puppets’ has made its debut on the Billboard Hot 100 thanks to its use in ‘Stranger Things 4’.

The title track from Metallica’s third studio album, ‘Master of Puppets,’ which was first released in 1986, most recently appeared in the ‘Stranger Things 4’ finale. Eddie Munson, who was portrayed on the show by Joseph Quinn, played the song on the guitar in the episode titled ‘The Piggyback.’

The heavy metal song gained fame after being used in the well-liked sci-fi drama. It has now formally entered the Billboard Hot 100 list at the 40th position, 36 years after its initial release. ‘Master Of Puppets’ was supposed to debut in the UK Single Chart Top 40 earlier this week.

Last week, Metallica declared that the usage of ‘Master of Puppets’ in Stranger Things had “blown them away.” On 5th July, the metal monoliths commended the creators, The Duffer Brothers, in a post on Instagram.

“We were beyond psyched for them to not only include ‘Master of Puppets’ in the show, but to have such a pivotal scene built around it,” they wrote. “It’s so extremely well done, so much so, that some folks were able to guess the song just by seeing a few seconds of Joseph Quinn’s hands in the trailer!!”

On this week’s Billboard Hot 100, Kate Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill,’ which was also used in sequences starring the character Max (Sadie Sink) in ‘Stranger Things 4’, is comfortably ranked at Number 4.

37 years after its release, the song topped the UK Singles Chart last month.
