A fresh chapter in the Peaky Blinders saga is officially in development, and it will stay true to its roots by being filmed in Birmingham. Series creator Steven Knight has confirmed that production on the new series will take place in the same city that shaped the original story.
The show, which concluded its sixth season in 2022, is set to continue with a new timeline — this time moving into the 1950s. While details are still emerging, the storyline will reportedly introduce a new generation of the Shelby family, with Cillian Murphy possibly returning as Tommy Shelby.
Knight emphasized that keeping the production in Birmingham is a major win for the region. His commitment to filming in the city mirrors the approach taken with the upcoming Peaky Blinders film, The Immortal Man, which is also being shot there.
Richard Parker, the mayor of the West Midlands, voiced his support for the decision, highlighting Birmingham’s connection to the series. He mentioned his collaboration with Knight to ensure that the production remains local, adding that plans are progressing well.

The concept of continuing the Peaky Blinders legacy with a younger cast set after World War II has been hinted at before. Knight has spoken about wanting to explore a new era and bring fresh characters into the spotlight.
Meanwhile, The Immortal Man, the upcoming film set during World War II, is gathering attention as well. Cillian Murphy is set to reprise his lead role, with Tom Harper directing and Knight writing the screenplay. The cast also includes returning actors such as Sophie Rundle and Stephen Graham, alongside newcomers like Rebecca Ferguson, Barry Keoghan, and Tim Roth.
Kate Phillips, who portrayed Linda Shelby in the original series, has confirmed she will not appear in the new film. She shared that although there were initial conversations about her involvement, the plans did not move forward.
Knight has previously shared his enthusiasm for the film project, describing the cast as a strong ensemble and expressing confidence that fans will be impressed by what’s to come.
