Twenty One Pilots have officially announced their eighth studio album, Breach. The Ohio-based duo, Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun, shared the news on May 21 via social media, revealing that the follow-up to their 2024 release Clancy will arrive this September. An exact release date has not yet been disclosed.
Fans won’t have to wait long for a taste of the new material—Breach's lead single, The Contract, is slated to drop on June 12.
In their announcement, the band referenced two of their past albums, writing: “Hello Clancy, hello Blurryface. Let’s finish this.” The line suggests Breach will continue and possibly conclude the narrative that began with 2015’s Blurryface and continued with Clancy, released last year.
The band also unveiled the album artwork, which features visual cues reminiscent of Clancy, reinforcing the thematic and stylistic connection between the records.
Over the years, Tyler Joseph has portrayed a character named Blurryface—symbolizing internal struggles such as insecurity and depression. This character has been depicted through visuals like black paint on Joseph’s neck and hands in music videos, a recurring motif that fans recognize as part of the larger narrative arc.

The phrase “Let’s finish this” hints that Breach may bring a close to the conceptual world the band has built over the last decade. Notably, Clancy’s final track, Paladin Strait, ends with the line: “Hello, Clancy,” further tying the albums together.
This announcement follows the group’s recent celebration of Blurryface's 10-year anniversary on social media, where they hinted at new beginnings with the phrase, “We’ll see what’s next.”
Blurryface was a landmark album for Twenty One Pilots, becoming the best-selling rock album of the 2010s and earning RIAA Gold or Platinum certification for every track—an industry first. It has also surpassed 15 billion streams globally.
Clancy debuted at Number Two on the UK Albums Chart and was initially believed to mark the end of the band’s long-running storyline.
The Clancy era recently concluded with a major world tour, which wrapped up at London’s O2 Arena. Earlier during the tour, fans famously rallied together to recover a stolen drum following a show in Manchester.
In addition to their album work, Twenty One Pilots also released The Line in late 2024, a song featured on the Arcane soundtrack.
