Unveiling the 2024 MTV VMA Winners
The 2024 MTV VMAs unfolded tonight, 12th September (11th September in the US), at the UBS Arena in New York, with Taylor Swift dominating the event by securing the most awards. Swift led the nominations with 10 nods, closely followed by Post Malone with nine, many of which were for their hit collaboration ‘Fortnight’. Other notable nominees included Sabrina Carpenter, Eminem, and Ariana Grande, each earning six nominations. Swift ended the evening with seven wins out of her 10 nominations, including ‘Video of the Year’ for ‘Fortnight’, Song of the Summer, Best Pop, Best Collaboration, and more.
The night began with Eminem’s high-energy performance of ‘Houdini’ and ‘Somebody Save Me’, featuring a nostalgic re-enactment of his early 2000s act with a group of Slim Shady lookalikes.
Chappell Roan earned one of the night’s top honours, ‘Best New Artist’. Sabrina Carpenter was celebrated for ‘Song of The Year’ with ‘Espresso’, and Eminem took home ‘Best Hip-Hop’ for ‘Houdini’.
Roan and Carpenter both made their VMA debuts with thrilling performances, while Katy Perry, who received the esteemed Video Vanguard Award, captivated the audience with a nearly 10-minute medley of her greatest hits.
