Amanda Seyfried captivated attendees with an unexpected musical performance following a special screening of her upcoming film 'The Testament of Ann Lee' at the Crosby Street Hotel in New York City. After the film concluded, the 40-year-old actress joined composer Daniel Blumberg at the piano to perform two songs featured in the project—a reimagined Shaker hymn and an original composition.

In the historical musical drama, directed by Mona Fastvold, Seyfried portrays Ann Lee, the real-life founder of the Shaker religious sect. The film delves into themes of grief, devotion, power and equality, while blending dozens of historical hymns with three new songs written by Blumberg.

Amanda Seyfried's Performance

To open their live performance, Seyfried and Blumberg sang 'Beautiful Treasures,' a modern adaptation of a traditional Shaker hymn that underscores one of the most emotional sequences in the movie. Amanda Seyfried has previously described the recording of this piece as one of the most challenging parts of her studio work for the film, explaining that the director encouraged her to tap into raw, physical emotion to capture the moment authentically.

The pair then introduced 'Clothed by the Sun,' one of Blumberg's original songs for the film. The composer has shared that the piece emerged quickly and naturally during the writing process, something he attributed to being deeply immersed in the story of Ann Lee for more than a year. Although he initially envisioned it as Seyfried's solo, it evolved into a duet after Fastvold expressed how much she appreciated the emotional atmosphere created by two voices.
