Ariana Grande may be hinting that the 'Wicked' universe has room to grow. The 32-year-old singer and actress sparked speculation after posting an Instagram video recently featuring a panel discussion with her 'Wicked: For Good' co-star Cynthia Erivo.

Ariana Grande on 'Wicked' Third Instalment

In the clip, Ariana Grande joked that talk of a "farewell tour" reminded her of Cher, suggesting that there is always potential for more to come and that the cast doesn't appear to be disappearing anytime soon. Her playful comment prompted the panel's moderator to ask whether she had just confirmed a third 'Wicked' movie.

Grande, Erivo, and the audience reacted with laughter before she clarified that she wasn't making any official announcement.

Ariana Grande Shares Thoughts on 'Wicked: For Good'

Ariana Grande explained that she feels a sense of calm knowing that the upcoming release will finally allow fans to understand the full journey of the story's central woman. She shared that she is relieved audiences will soon see and appreciate Glinda in her entirety when the second part of the film adaptation debuts.

The actress emphasised that, regardless of what comes next, the characters will always remain deeply meaningful to the cast. She described how emotional it is to meet young fans who recognise her as Glinda and reflected on how the role has permanently shaped her life. Grande admitted she will miss the creative process behind the project, calling the work she shared with Cynthia Erivo both special and challenging in the best possible ways.

Although Universal Pictures has not announced plans for any additional 'Wicked' films beyond 'Wicked: For Good,' there is still plenty of source material that could inspire future instalments.

Author L. Frank Baum wrote 14 books in the Oz series, while Gregory Maguire's 1995 novel 'Wicked'—the basis for the film adaptations—offers its own reimagined narrative threads that could be explored further.

Ariana Grande also spoke candidly about how the filmmaking experience helped her reconnect with her artistic passion. She explained that working on 'Wicked' made her feel creatively safe again and allowed her to feel truly seen. She added that sharing this journey with Cynthia Erivo, whom she now considers a lifelong sister, was one of the most meaningful gifts of her career.

'Wicked: For Good' arrives in theatres on 21st November.
