On 17th November, Ariana Grande made a stunning entry at the 'Wicked: For Good' premiere in New York City. Her ensemble combined whimsical, dramatic flair, and an unexpected edge, putting her in the spotlight. The international pop sensation, who has been reinventing herself musically and artistically for the past year, showed up in a stunning corseted ball gown that paid homage to her Glinda character while introducing a darker, more mature evolution of the beloved Good Witch.
The NYC premiere gave Grande a victorious return to the glamour, excitement, and emotional weight of the international 'Wicked' press tour, and the evening was her most important public appearance since the disturbing fan incident in Singapore. Grande exuded confidence and vulnerability as she met fans and reconnected with her co-stars, emulating the dual nature of Glinda in the eagerly awaited movie. She created the ideal atmosphere for a night that celebrated Ariana Grande's ongoing development as an actress, singer, and cultural star in addition to the film's debut.

A Bold, Edgy Red Carpet Look
On the yellow-brick-road–themed carpet at the premiere, Ariana Grande stunned in a striking Schiaparelli gown styled by Law Roach. According to the photos published on the internet, the dress had a mismatched black corset that hugged her torso (one side was velvet, the other was lace), and the skirt floated in pale pink tulle, giving it a feeling of airiness and wonder. She paired the look with large Swarovski drop earrings and satin ballet ballet-style pumps by Christian Louboutin, emphasizing both drama and delicate grace.
Grande also switched up her usual look: instead of her iconic blonde Glinda hair, she wore her hair sleeked back into a ponytail with a black bow, and revealed a rich brunette shade for the first time in years—a transformation she's said mirrors the darker, emotional tone of her character's evolution. Grande explained in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that this drastic change in design represents a shift in her Glinda's theme. She is now completely embracing the "darker, more mature" phase of Glinda's journey, in contrast to her initial press tours, when she was leaned into the more traditional, lighthearted Glinda vibes.

The dress itself has a very emotional significance because it features a vintage couture that was first worn in the 1952 movie 'Lovely to Look At' and was created by Gilbert Adrian, a designer associated with 'The Wizard of Oz' legacy—which Grande said brought her to tears during fittings. Grande even shared a bunch of photos on her Instagram, showcasing her stunning gown. In the caption, she mentioned that it was the movie's final premiere.
Character Growth & the Stir After the Fan Incident
Beyond fashion, Grande's appearance also carried echoes of the turbulence she recently navigated. At the Singapore premiere of 'Wicked: For Good' earlier in the tour, held on 13th November, she was grabbed by a fan who breached security barricades. Her 'Wicked' co-star Cynthia Erivo, who plays Elphaba, leaped immediately into action, shielding Grande and pushing the man away until security intervened.
Following the incident, Grande expressed her gratitude on Instagram, describing Singapore as "very special" to her. The fan, identified as Johnson Wen (aka "Pyjama Man"), was later charged with public nuisance and an imprisonment of 9 years.

Despite the terrifying experience, Grande exuded fortitude both on stage and the red carpet, reflecting the strength that Glinda gradually realizes in the course of the movie. Fans should anticipate a deeper, more emotionally complex Glinda in 'Wicked: For Good,' which opens in US theaters on 21st November.
