Bob Odenkirk steps into dangerous territory in the first trailer for his new action thriller, 'Normal,' inviting viewers into a quiet, snow-covered town that won't stay peaceful for long. The film is set to arrive in theatres on 16th April 2026.

What's in 'Normal' Trailer?

The preview introduces 'Normal,' Minnesota, a place where life moves slowly and nothing out of the ordinary ever seems to happen. The mayor, played by Henry Winkler, casually wanders the streets, a moose freely roams the town, and Sheriff Ulysses, portrayed by Odenkirk, spends his days handing out friendly notes instead of serious citations. Local resident Moira, played by Lena Headey, is part of the town's familiar routine, adding to its small-town charm.

That calm is shattered when a brutal bank robbery rocks the community. As the situation spirals, long-hidden secrets begin to surface. It quickly becomes clear that the town isn't the only thing hiding a past. Ulysses reacts with surprising skill and intensity, revealing abilities that go far beyond what anyone would expect from a mild-mannered small-town sheriff. What follows is a tense and explosive showdown. The cast also includes Billy MacLellan, Brendan Fletcher, Peter Shinkoda, and Jess McLeod.

Bob Odenkirk's Varied Projects

Many audiences still associate Odenkirk with his comedy roots on 'Mr Show' or his Emmy-nominated turn as Jimmy McGill, also known as Saul Goodman, in 'Breaking Bad' and 'Better Call Saul'. That perception changed with the release of 'Nobody' in 2021 and its sequel 'Nobody 2' in 2025, where he proved himself as a full-fledged action lead. In those films, he played Hutch Mansell, a former government operative pulled back into violence after crossing paths with dangerous criminals.

The script for 'Normal' reunites Odenkirk with writer Derek Kolstad, best known for creating the 'John Wick' franchise and writing the 'Nobody' films. Marc Provissiero also returns as a producer, continuing the creative partnership. Like 'Nobody,' the film was shot in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

'Normal' is directed by Ben Wheatley, known for his bold and unconventional work on films such as 'Kill List,' 'A Field in England,' and 'Free Fire.' The film is produced by a large team including Molly C. Quinn, Matthew M. Welty, Elan Gale, and several others, and will be released by Magnolia Pictures.

'Normal' opens exclusively in theatres on 16th April 2026.
