Jeremy Allen White has opened up about how he prepared for his role as Bruce Springsteen in the new biopic 'Deliver Me From Nowhere'—revealing that he learned to play the songs on a guitar personally sent to him by Springsteen himself.
'The Bear' star takes on the role of The Boss in the new film, which explores Springsteen's mental health challenges and the creative process behind his iconic 1982 album 'Nebraska.' During a Spotify-hosted fan Q&A attended by both Springsteen and White, the actor discussed how he approached learning the instrument for the role.
Jeremy Allen White's New Guitar
White explained that Springsteen sent him a rare 1955 Gibson J200—a model nearly identical to the one the rock legend used while recording 'Nebraska.' He described it as an incredible instrument and said it felt like learning to play on one of the finest guitars imaginable.

To prepare for the film, Jeremy Allen White trained intensively with guitarist JD Simone, who coached him remotely from Nashville several times a week. Rather than starting with guitar fundamentals, White focused directly on mastering a handful of Springsteen's songs, a process he described as both unconventional and deeply immersive.
Jeremy Allen White Got Attached to His Guitar
The actor became so attached to the guitar that he used it throughout filming. Despite the prop team's concerns about its safety, Jeremy Allen White took it home nightly to continue practising, ensuring his performance would feel as authentic as possible.
White has also mentioned his intention to keep playing, admitting that the guitar is too beautiful to be left untouched.

Bruce Springsteen himself praised White’s dedication, saying the actor delivered the 'Nebraska' tracks with impressive authenticity and emotional depth.
'Deliver Me From Nowhere' hits cinemas on 24th October, promising a fresh and intimate look at one of Springsteen's most defining creative periods. Director Scott Cooper has teased that the biopic will offer new insights even for long-time fans, while Jeremy Allen White has shared that he intentionally avoided seeking advice from other biopic actors like Timothée Chalamet and Austin Butler to craft his own unique interpretation of The Boss.
