Emma Watson discusses her break from acting in a rare and reflective interview with Hollywood Authentic that was published on 21st September. Despite the fact that she hasn't acted in a movie since 'Little Women' in 2019, the 35-year-old admits that she "profoundly" misses the craft, the immersion, and the liberating feeling of losing oneself in a moment.
However, Watson also makes it apparent that one aspect of the film business she doesn't miss at all, that includes the constant selling, promotion, and pressure to be in the spotlight, which she terms as "soul-destroying."
What She Misses—and What She Doesn't
Watson talks affectionately about the aspects of acting that she still longs for, such as using her skill set, practicing scenes, getting ready for roles, and most importantly, the scenes where everything disappears as the camera rolls. She describes the experience as "such an intense form of meditation," valuing the opportunity to be creative and totally present.

Conversely, she also openly talks about how much she despises the promotional aspect of her job. According to Watson, it is exhausting to promote a film, respond to inquiries about how things fit with her principles when she had little control over them, and uphold a public image. According to her, the element can upset the work's equilibrium, and she found it to be "very soul-destroying."
Her Future, Well‑Being, and What's Next
Despite taking a step back, Watson hasn't ruled out doing acting again in the future. She teases about working on a new project that she has "never done before," although she gave very little specifics on the same. She talked about how taking time off to concentrate on personal development and letting go of the many identities and demands of public life has made her feel "the happiest and healthiest" she has ever been.

Watson's last major feature film role was as Meg March in 'Little Women' (2019). She also did a short film in 2022 that she directed for 'Prada Paradoxe,' but her acting career has been largely quiet since then. Instead of merely adhering to the rules, her priorities now appear to be well-being, genuine employment, and selecting tasks where she feels she has more power.
