Jennifer Lawrence is candidly discussing the anxiety she feels in the months leading up to a film's release—especially after pouring so much work and emotion into a project.

The Oscar-winning actress, who stars with Robert Pattinson in Lynne Ramsay's new psychological drama 'Die My Love,' recently spoke with V Magazine about the dread that often accompanies the wait for audience responses.

Jennifer Lawrence on Waiting For Audience Reactions

Lawrence shared that the anticipation can be overwhelming because she has experienced moments of working passionately on films only to see them met with harsh criticism once released. She noted that, despite knowing how unpredictable reactions can be, she still manages to forget this reality each time she steps onto a new set. For her, the period before public release remains one of the most nerve-racking parts of the filmmaking process.

Jennifer Lawrence also mentioned that even her husband has trouble understanding the depth of her anxiety. While he reassured her that the film is exceptional, she explained that audience reactions don't always reflect the quality of the work. His confidence in the movie, she said, didn't fully ease her concern that some viewers simply might not connect with it.

What is Jennifer Lawrence's 'Die My Love' About?

Currently in theatres, 'Die My Love' is adapted from Ariana Harwicz's novel. The story follows a writer named Grace (played by Lawrence) who moves to a remote Montana home with her husband Jackson (Pattinson) and spirals into psychological turmoil after giving birth. The project has been deeply personal for Jennifer Lawrence, who has previously spoken about navigating postpartum depression after the birth of her second child.

The film premiered at Cannes in May, and Lawrence told The Hollywood Reporter that promoting such intimate material over an extended period has felt unsettling. She described the experience as exposing something profoundly private to the world—a feeling akin to having her personal diary opened and analysed by strangers. Still, she expressed gratitude for the opportunity to share the film and excitement for audiences to experience it.

Critics have offered mixed reactions to 'Die My Love,' though Lawrence's performance has earned considerable praise. The film currently holds a 74 per cent critics score and a 45 per cent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
