Lady Gaga Sees Motherhood as Her "Next Starring Role"

From pop sensation to Oscar-nominated actress, Lady Gaga has never shied away from taking on challenging roles. However, now she is aiming for something even more intimate: motherhood. The multi-talented singer talked candidly about her desire to have children in a recent interview on

'The Late Show' with Stephen Colbert, referring to motherhood as her "next leading role." Gaga stated that the next chapter she is most enthusiastic about isn't a performance at all, but rather real life, which is what she has been waiting for, even though fans still appreciate her inventiveness on stage and television.

From Pop Icon to Potential Mom

During a recent pre-recorded interview with Stephen Colbert, Lady Gaga shared her sincere desire to have children. She said in that chat that while she is excited about a lot of opportunities, including acting parts, musical endeavours, and even Broadway, her ultimate goal is to become a mother. "Everything here is open. But becoming a mother is what I truly want. I hope that's my next big part," she said to Colbert.

With a thriving career spanning music, film, and performance art, Gaga is prepared to take on a role that is both enduring and intensely personal at the age of 39. She has discussed having children before. She talked about her discussions about family, autonomy, and creativity with her fiancé Michael Polansky in previous interviews, such as one with Elle. 

According to her, they frequently discuss letting future generations be their own people, including their beliefs, thoughts, and lifestyles, without placing demands on them. She reaffirmed that notion on 'The Late Show,' stating that she is "ready to be humbled" by motherhood and that it will transform her in new ways.

Balancing Art, Fame, and Family

Gaga makes it apparent that she isn't abandoning her work even as she talks about becoming a mother. During the conversation, she reflected that while she may pursue acting, Broadway, or other artistic endeavors, her heart is focused on this next stage of her life.

The conversation also highlighted her relationship with Polansky, whom she described as her best friend and who "sees" her in ways that others might not. They have worked with and supported one another on her recent projects, such as 'Mayhem,' and 'Harlequin,' and she claims that their relationship is both creative and personal.

Gaga also acknowledged a curious reality: in the future, her kids might view her more colorful or controversial performances from the past and wonder or question. Instead of limiting their perception, she said she would welcome that and would rather have an open discussion.
