"I Had to Block Out the Noise": Hemsworth on Cavill Comparisons
Hemsworth said in a recent exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly that it was difficult to take on a role that was so strongly defined by Henry Cavill. He admitted that he was under "a lot of pressure" to measure up to the physical presence and beloved character that Cavill developed over the course of three seasons.
Despite having knee and shoulder injuries that made exercising challenging, Hemsworth admitted he felt pressured to "put on a bunch of size" in order to match Geralt's intimidating physique. However, Hemsworth claimed that the emotional and fan-driven strain was perhaps more oppressive than the physicality.

He stated, "There was quite a bit of noise, and I had to block it out. If I paid attention to it, I wouldn’t be able to focus on what I was doing," indicating that he had to consciously separate himself from the criticism and comparisons on social media.
Hemsworth worked with dialect coaches and character experts to establish his own accent for Geralt, keeping the essence while adding something fresh, rather than imitating Cavill's speech or mannerisms. He hopes that fans will eventually accept and value his take on the character.
