Days after the premiere of the first season, Netflix has formally announced a second season renewal for its adult animated horror-comedy 'Haunted Hotel.' The comedy-horror series which was created by Matt Roller (of Rick and Morty fame), made its premiere on 19th September, 2025, to a positive reception and was swiftly picked up for season 2.

Fans may now spend more time at the spooky Undervale, where the drama combines family relationships with oddball ghostly turmoil. Season 2 promises even more frights, giggles, and eerie hospitality, in addition to the return of the original voice cast and hints to further supernatural plotlines.

What Made Season 1 a Hit—and What's at Stake

Katherine, a single mother who inherits the Undervale Hotel from her late brother Nathan, is introduced to us in season 1 of 'Haunted Hotel.' After moving there with her kids Ben and Esther, she finds that the hotel is haunted by strange spirits, including Nathan, who is now deceased but still connected to his former residence. They battle together against spectral visitors, cunning spirits, a demon named Abaddon who is imprisoned in a child's body, and cursed guests who never go.

On 19th September, the whole ten episodes of the show—each lasting roughly 24 to 25 minutes—were released on Netflix worldwide. Although the show's early popularity made a renewal widely expected, it was not assured—creator Matt Roller has stated publicly that the choice for season 2 "is number-dependent," highlighting the importance of high viewership for the show's survival.

What Can Fans Expect in Season 2?

Fans can rejoice because it is anticipated that important voice actors will return. Jimmi Simpson portrays Abaddon, Skyler Gisondo portrays her son Ben, Natalie Palamides portrays her daughter Esther, Will Forte portrays her ghost-brother Nathan, and Eliza Coupe portrays Katherine.

According to Entertainment Weekly, more voices are added to complete the hauntings, including those of Drew Tarver, Carl Tart, and Duncan Trussell. Expect the authors to delve deeper into unsolved themes in season 2, such as ghosts' former lives, deeper demon knowledge, and more conflicts between the human and ghostly worlds. The delicate balance between the living and the dead will probably be put to the test at the Undervale Hotel as it encounters new dangers and cursed visitors.

A Sneek Peek of Season 1:

On 26th September, the renewal announcement was made, reaffirming that production will continue. Although season 2's official release date has not yet been announced, certain sources indicate that if development proceeds quickly, late 2026 may be possible.
