Rachel McAdams and Dylan O'Brien are stranded in paradise gone wrong in the first trailer for 'Send Help,' the upcoming dark comedy from legendary director Sam Raimi.
The film follows two coworkers whose business trip takes a deadly turn when their plane crashes, leaving them isolated on a deserted island. As survival instincts kick in, professional rivalries resurface—and the pair soon find themselves locked in a battle of control, manipulation, and sheer willpower.
McAdams, 46, stars as Linda Liddle, an overlooked member of a corporate strategy team who’s spent years being undermined by her overbearing boss, Bradley Preston, played by O’Brien, 34. After the crash, the office hierarchy collapses, forcing both characters to confront who they really are when stripped of titles, rules, and civilisation.
'Send Help' Potrays Dark Power Struggle
The trailer teases a tense, darkly comic power struggle. McAdams' Linda begins to adapt to island life with surprising confidence, while O'Brien's Bradley clings to authority that no longer matters. As their situation worsens, flashes of chaos, blood, and humour fill the screen—culminating in a moment where Linda, seemingly unhinged yet liberated, declares that perhaps they shouldn’t leave the island at all.

Director Sam Raimi described 'Send Help' as a twisted blend of survival thriller and psychological comedy. He was immediately drawn to the script by Mark Swift and Damian Shannon, noting that it offered an outrageous yet emotionally grounded look at two flawed people pushed to extremes.
Sam Raimi saw it as both a story of power reversal and personal transformation—especially for McAdams' character, whose evolution from underestimated employee to fearless survivor drives the heart of the film.
Raimi also emphasised the movie's deeper themes of empathy and respect, explaining that it highlights how people’s true nature surfaces when social structures disappear. For him, 'Send Help' ultimately becomes a story of empowerment, as Linda learns to reclaim her strength in the most unexpected setting.

With its mix of biting humour, tension, and emotional depth, 'Send Help' promises to deliver a uniquely offbeat survival story—one where the deadliest threat might not be nature, but human ego. 'Send Help' opens in theatres on 30th January 2025, from 20th Century Studios.
