Ridley Scott is Waiting For The Right Time
According to Ridley Scott, some stories need to wait for the right moment—especially if the industry isn’t ready for them. He revealed that he owns the rights to what he considers the best Western script he has ever read. The screenplay, discovered among the works of a deceased author, was secured through the writer’s estate and has been quietly waiting for the ideal opportunity to come to life. Scott expressed strong confidence in the material and hinted that the time to make it will eventually come.
But that’s not all—he still has other genres in his sights. Ridley Scott shared that he also wants to tackle a musical and a pirate film, rounding out his cinematic bucket list with a diverse mix of unexplored storytelling styles.
While Scott declined to reveal the title of the Western—opting to keep the details under wraps to avoid premature leaks—his enthusiasm for the project speaks volumes. With Westerns regaining mainstream popularity, thanks in part to shows like ‘Yellowstone’ and ‘Landman’ from Taylor Sheridan, the timing may be perfect for Scott’s entry into the genre. ‘Landman’ made waves by becoming Paramount’s most successful new series, and ‘Yellowstone’ continues to dominate the cultural conversation, drawing tens of millions of viewers.
