It's been 20 years since her breakthrough single, 'Pon de Replay,' that launched her to the international renown. The singer from Barbados, who was then 17 years old, released her first album, 'Music of the Sun,' on 29th August, 2005. This was the beginning of a path that would make her one of the world's most significant artists, businesswomen, and icons.

A Journey of Gratitude and Reflection

Rihanna thanked everyone who helped her along the way over the past two decades in a very personal social media statement. "Twenty years ago, I left my country, my culture, my food, and my family to embark on a journey that started with the release of my very first body of music," she mused, describing her journey from leaving Barbados—the food, culture, and family—to finding herself on the international scene. Her statement honored her "die-hard" Navy and the innumerable professionals who believed in her "before it was popular," including CEOs, DJs, writers, producers, dancers, choreographers, fashion designers, journalists, and more. She also spoke passionately about her faith and her family's unwavering support, concluding, "I thank God, He's been very gracious to me and the Glory belongs to Him!"
