zDuring a lively promotional stop for his forthcoming film 'Marty Supreme' in São Paulo, Brazil, Timothée Chalamet delighted audiences once more by performing his iconic Soulja Boy "Crank That" dance. The actor, who plays ping-pong prodigy Marty Mauser in the A24 sports drama that premieres on 25th December, seized the occasion to engage fans in a lighthearted, exuberant manner, demonstrating that his charisma goes well beyond his acting abilities. Chalamet's dance, which has become a regular highlight on his promotional tours, skillfully combined fun, nostalgia, and movie enthusiasm, leaving attendees with lasting memories.

Chalamet Fires Up São Paulo Crowd

On December 5, 2025, Timothée Chalamet transformed a press tour visit into a full-fledged party during a promotional stop for his new movie 'Marty Supreme' at the CCXP Brazil convention in São Paulo. He broke into the iconic dance from Soulja Boy's 2007 smash song "Crank That (Soulja Boy)." Chalamet can be seen on camera entering the stage wearing a green-and-yellow pullover, which is a tribute to Brazil, before doing the famous routines.

The crowd erupted in cheers as he danced, later tossing his pullover and a grey "USA" hoodie into the audience before revealing a white tank top and greeting fans with an enthusiastic "Yeah." This energetic moment isn't new. In December 2024, Chalamet debuted his Soulja Boy-inspired routines on the podcast 'The Broski Report,' where he taught presenter Brittany Broski the dance's signature steps.

Why This Dance Matters: Building Hype for 'Marty Supreme'

Chalamet's dance is part of his enthusiastic promotion for 'Marty Supreme,' a movie that opens in theaters on 25th December, not simply for fun. He is supposed to play the ping-pong prodigy Marty Mauser in the film, who was inspired on the real-life champion Marty Reisman. Josh Safdie is the film's director, and A24 is supporting it. Director Safdie even joined Chalamet onstage to discuss the movie during the CCXP presentation.

Chalamet reportedly told audiences, "If you don't like good movies, don't go see Marty Supreme," and added that the experience reminded him to "keep dreaming, keep believing in yourself." The dance also demonstrates Chalamet's return to his musical and performance roots, given his history of dance-filled film roles, which range from enjoyable hotel-room dance sessions with co-star Zendaya during their time on 'Dune 2' to a dance-heavy portrayal in the 2023 film 'Wonka.'

What's Next for Chalamet?

Chalamet's passion for dancing dates back many years. Prior to being well-known as an actor, he experimented with music in high school under the stage name "Lil Timmy Tim." Now, as he prepares for the theatrical premiere of 'Marty Supreme,' this viral dancing moment may help expand audience interest beyond traditional movie fans into pop-culture and music circles. If nothing else, it shows that Chalamet isn't scared to use charm, nostalgia, and enjoyment to market his work.

Whether you go for his acting chops or his dance moves, one thing is clear: Timothée Chalamet is bringing full energy to 'Marty Supreme'—and maybe inspiring a few people to "Crank That" along with him.
