The third installment of Netflix's popular detective series, 'Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery' has finally released its teaser, and Daniel Craig returns as the astute investigator Benoit Blanc. The trailer for the third installment of Rian Johnson's well-liked mystery series was released by the producers on 8th September. Blanc is called upon to solve a "impossible crime" involving the death of a Catholic priest during Mass in this third installment of Rian Johnson's adored whodunit series. The stakes are stronger than ever against a backdrop of spiritual tension and macabre imagery.

Grisly Murder Meets Gothic Atmosphere
When a priest collapses into a sealed concrete box in a small-town church, a furious sermon turns to horror—an inconceivable crime even for Benoit Blanc. Southern Gothic imagery, such as moist stone walls, resonant church bells, and flickering candlelight that casts lengthy shadows over the inquiry, is used in the teaser to build the mood. Blanc is obviously in his element—Asian yet sophisticated, wry yet determined—wearing a stately three-piece suit and having longer hair.
With Josh O'Connor and Jeremy Renner portraying priests and suspects, this episode drifts toward theological mystery and spiritual uneasiness. A plot full of religious tension and gothic dread gains star power from the addition of Sarah Washington and industry veterans Glenn Close, Mila Kunis, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, and Daryl McCormack.

A Release Strategy as Sharp as the Plot
On 6th September, the film made its highly acclaimed debut at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, where critics praised it as the most ambitious and darkest installment in the 'Knives Out' series to date. Craig's razor-sharp acting and Rian Johnson's eerie directing vision were the main sources of praise.
After its premiere at the film festival, 'Wake Up Dead Man' is set to be released in a few cinemas on 26th November for a brief two-week run before becoming live on Netflix from 12th December. Although Netflix continues to operate its carefully regulated window, Johnson had hoped for a wider theatrical presence. Thus, from the thunderous chime of church bells to the unnerving concept of an "impossible crime," 'Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery' promises a spine-chilling twist on Benoit Blanc's legacy.
