Keira Knightley leads the cast of 'The Woman in Cabin 10,' a high-seas murder mystery, but the true star of the film may be the opulent superyacht where the story unfolds. In the Netflix thriller, Knightley plays travel journalist Laura "Lo" Blacklock, who witnesses a passenger being thrown overboard during a luxury cruise.
The suspense escalates when she is told that all passengers and crew are accounted for, forcing her to investigate the incident herself.
While the film showcases a glamorous and spacious vessel, much of the action was filmed aboard the real-life superyacht Savannah. The $150 million yacht, known as the world's first true hybrid superyacht, was docked at Portland Harbour near the Isle of Portland in Dorset, England, for nearly three weeks of filming. Some interior scenes were later recreated on soundstages, but all interactions with water in the film were authentic, emphasising realism in the movie’s marine setting.

The $1 Million-Per-Week Superyacht
The Savannah measures 274 feet long and rents for $1 million per week. It offers six cabins for up to 12 guests and features lavish interiors including a spiral staircase, video walls, a DJ booth, a 30-foot swimming pool, a spa, an underwater lounge, and a secret room for private sea views.
Built by Feadship in the Netherlands and delivered in 2015, the yacht won Motor Yacht of the Year at the 2015 World Superyacht Awards.

Ownership and History
The Savannah was owned by Swedish-Canadian businessman Lukas Lundin, founder of Lundin Mining and a notable figure in the diamond and mining industries. Lundin passed away in July 2022 at age 64 from glioblastoma, a form of brain cancer. The yacht was sold in May 2025, having been on the market since September 2023.
Challenges on 'The Woman in Cabin 10' Set
Despite the yacht's luxury, filming presented challenges for the cast and crew. Many experienced seasickness, particularly in a glass-walled green room next to the ship’s swimming pool, which earned the nickname the "room of doom." The production team had to make logistical adjustments to improve comfort for the actors.
Strict rules governed filming aboard the Savannah. Crew members could only bring handheld cameras and lights, and no equipment could be placed on the floor. Shoes were prohibited on the yacht, a rule incorporated into the film's script.

The cast had to avoid touching walls, carpets, or furniture, and could only eat or drink in designated areas—these restrictions made for long, cramped workdays, contrasting sharply with the luxurious surroundings depicted on screen.
Despite the logistical hurdles, the Savannah provided an authentic and visually stunning backdrop for 'The Woman in Cabin 10' thriller, enhancing the film's suspense and maritime atmosphere.
