Kayce Dutton's attempt to start over after 'Yellowstone' appears far more complicated than expected, according to the newly released extended trailer for the upcoming spinoff series 'Y: Marshals.'
The first detailed look at the CBS drama shows Kayce struggling once again with the emotional cost of his choices. While he has left the Yellowstone Ranch behind, the weight of his past continues to follow him. In the trailer, Kayce reflects on his efforts to escape the legacy of Yellowstone and the personal losses he has endured, including family and close companions. Despite his desire for a fresh beginning, his internal conflict between being a good man and doing morally difficult work remains at the centre of his story.
What's Happening in 'Y: Marshals'?
In 'Y: Marshals,' Kayce now leads an elite team of U.S. Marshals in Montana. After selling the family ranch following the events of the 'Yellowstone' season 5B finale, he commits himself to law enforcement while raising his son, Tate, who now stands beside him as a young adult. The series explores his battle to balance duty, trauma, and fatherhood while navigating the moral grey areas of frontier justice.

The show is part of Taylor Sheridan's expanding 'Yellowstone' universe. Several familiar faces return, including Brecken Merrill as Tate Dutton, Gil Birmingham as Thomas Rainwater and Mo Brings Plenty as Mo. However, Kelsey Asbille, who portrayed Kayce's wife Monica, does not appear in the announced cast, leaving questions about Monica's fate and how her absence will affect Kayce's life moving forward.
New cast members joining the series include Logan Marshall-Green, Arielle Kebbel, Ash Santos and Tatanka Means. Their characters form Kayce's core U.S. Marshals team, each bringing unique skills and emotional conflicts to the story. Together, they confront violent threats across Montana while also dealing with the psychological pressures of being the region's last line of defence.
