10 Stars Who Struggled With Body Image Issues
The struggle with body image and the constant battle people in the public eye face with their fans and their haters is no longer baffling. But what we need right now are champions who have gone through and come out stronger from this all to inspire your girls and boys.
Here are 10 stars who have been the absolute clapback machine when it comes to people’s comments on their bodies.
2. Selena Gomez dealt with her body being in the public eye from a very young age. A picture of her in a bikini got her some serious flak and she said, “It hurt my feelings because I never experienced that before. But I didn’t want that to be my story, so I said, ‘I don’t care what you think.’ I’m learning that you can be comfortable and still look beautiful.”

5. Sam Smith has a long battle with their body image. “I still feel pressured to look a certain way. For women, the pressure in this industry is horrendous and it’s got to stop. But it’s the same for guys, even though they won’t speak about it.” Truth!

6. What a cruel world where even Rihanna isn’t spared. But here is a mantra she follows when dressing herself. “I really pay attention every day when I go into the closet about what’s working for my body that morning. I feel like that’s how everyone should go after fashion, because it’s an individual thing.”

7. Lorde talks about when she was new to the industry, “I remember being made aware of my looks and my body in a way that I had never been. I remember all these kids online were like, ‘F*ck her, she’s got really far-apart eyes. Just weird sh*t like that…It rocked my foundations and could have f*cked me, you know?”

8. All of the Little Mix stars have been targeted for their body image from a young age. Jesy said, “As we’ve got older, we genuinely don’t give a s**t any more. It’s hard to take when you’re young, but now we’re more confident. We’re happy to be how we are, and don’t care if we put on a couple of pounds.”

9. Ed Sheeran has a practical approach to his body. “I was never really happy with my image, and then I realized it was because I was eating fried food and drinking beer every day. You don’t have to kill yourself by getting into shape. Just eat right and don’t drink every day.”

10. Halsey shares a similar story with online bullies. She posted a picture of herself in which her armpit hair could be seen and a Twitter user reposted the photo with a ‘LOL’ smeared on her armpit with a comment saying “what the hell is this?!!!” Halsey, the boss, retweeted it saying, “It’s an armpit you’ve put a sticker over. Not sure what else there is here to explain?”
