Jennifer Lopez Keeps 8.5-Carat Green Diamond Ring From Ben Affleck in Divorce Settlement
As part of the terms of her divorce from Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez will keep her diamond engagement ring.
After they resumed their romance, 52-year-old Affleck proposed to 53-year-old Lopez in 2021 with an engagement ring set with 8.5 carats of emerald diamonds. After getting married in a secret ceremony in Las Vegas in July 2022, the couple celebrated with friends and family in Georgia the following month.
According to court documents acquired by PEOPLE, Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024, and their divorce was finalized on 6th January 2025, over five months later.
Affleck gave up all rights to Lopez’s personal property, including her clothes, jewellery, and other possessions, according to the divorce papers. This enables Lopez to retain the gorgeous green diamond engagement ring, which is estimated to be worth more than $5 million. Two half-moon accent diamonds flank the 8.5-carat radiant-cut gem, which is set on a platinum ring with the words “not.going.anywhere” etched on it.

In her newsletter, Lopez described the meaning of the green ring’s colour at the time of engagement, stating that it has always been her lucky colour and would always have a particular place in her heart.
Natural green diamonds are extremely rare and need careful planning and cutting to obtain their maximum brilliance, a diamond expert previously told PEOPLE. The expert added that the value of such a gem is probably going to rise with time.
Lopez and Affleck were previously engaged in 2004 when Affleck proposed with a 6-carat radiant-cut pink diamond ring from Harry Winston. This engagement ended in 2021.

Lopez brought her 16-year-old daughter Emme to Affleck’s Los Angeles residence the day before the divorce was finalized, along with Affleck’s 12-year-old son Samuel.
According to a source who spoke to PEOPLE, Lopez and Affleck put their kids’ happiness first and made it possible for them to get together even though they live apart. The kids love spending time together. According to the insider, the ex-couple is not getting back together and spent the most recent holiday season apart, with Lopez spending Christmas with her kids and Affleck with his.
