Angelina Jolie is set to reunite with 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith' director Doug Liman for a high-stakes spy thriller, marking her return to the action-thriller genre.
Penned by F. Scott Frazier, the film will be produced by Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum of RK Films, the duo best known for bringing Angelina Jolie’s 'Maleficent' movies to life. Described as 'Training Day' with a spycraft twist, the story will follow Angelina Jolie as a rogue master spy navigating a world of deception and danger.

Angelina Jolie's Expanding Resume
Angelina Jolie, who famously starred alongside Brad Pitt in the 2005 action-comedy 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith' under Liman’s direction, has continued to expand her action résumé in recent years. Since 2019’s 'Maleficent: Mistress of Evil', she has appeared in Marvel’s 'Eternals' (2021), portrayed opera legend Maria Callas in 'Maria' (2024), and directed the war drama 'Without Blood'. Her upcoming appearances include Alice Winocour’s French drama 'Couture', set to debut at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, as well as an action-packed collaboration with Halle Berry in 'Maude v Maude'.

At the same time, Doug Liman is balancing several ventures, among them 'Deeper'—a supernatural ocean thriller featuring Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas—along with another project teaming him up once more with Cruise and 'Mission: Impossible' director Christopher McQuarrie.
This upcoming spy thriller will not only reunite Jolie and Liman after two decades but also bring a fresh, intense spin to the espionage genre.
