Universal Pictures is diving deeper into sci-fi horror with 'Saturation Point', a chilling new thriller adapted from Adrian Tchaikovsky’s gripping novel. This upcoming release promises to blend mind-bending science fiction with pulse-quickening suspense, as the studio continues to push the boundaries of the genre.
'Saturation Point' will be produced by Oscar-nominated figure Cynthia Erivo and blockbuster Michael Bay, teaming up with Brad Fuller under the Platinum Dunes banner.

Minnie Schedeen is set to write the screenplay adaptation. Known for her work across several major studios, Schedeen will bring to life Tchaikovsky’s 2024 novel — a gripping climate sci-fi thriller set in a future Earth overwhelmed by an uninhabitable, heat-scorched zone. In the story, Dr. Jasmine Marks leads a search and rescue mission into this perilous territory, only to uncover deadly secrets, alien threats, and corporate deception.
What Does 'Saturation Point' Offer?
The novel 'Saturation Point' blends high-stakes action with deep environmental themes, making it a strong candidate for a franchise. Erivo, through her production company Edith’s Daughter, will produce the movie.
Powerhouse filmmakers Michael Bay and Brad Fuller are set to produce under their hit-making banner, Platinum Dunes—the studio behind genre favourites like 'The Purge', 'A Quiet Place', and 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'. Bringing even more firepower to the project, Alex Ginno joins the team as executive producer.
