After achieving global fame as the 'Boy Who Lived' in eight hugely successful Harry Potter movies, and earning critical theatre acclaim, Daniel Radcliffe is making a triumphant return to Broadway. The Broadway debut of Duncan Macmillan and Jonny Donahoe's solo drama 'Every Brilliant Thing’ will feature the actor, who just earned his first Tony Award for his role in the 2023 production of 'Merrily We Roll Along.'

At the Hudson Theatre in New York, previews start on 21st February, 2026, followed by opening night on 12th March, 2026 and has a limited run through 24th May, 2026. With his rich stage history and wide popular appeal, Radcliffe's return promises a deeply human theatre experience that builds on both his screen and stage successes.

A Theatrical Milestone: The Return and the Play

Following a series of well-received theater outings, Radcliffe is making his Broadway comeback. He debuted on Broadway in 'Equus' in 2007. He went on to play parts in 'The Cripple of Inishmaan' (2014), 'How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying' (2011), and, most recently, the popular production of 'Merrily We Roll Along,' for which he received the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical. Radcliffe will engage with the audience and draw them into the story in his upcoming one-person show, 'Every Brilliant Thing.'

The play follows a man who, in response to his mother's depression, compiles a list of every wonderful, beautiful, and delightful thing—big, small and every-in-between—that makes life worth living. Every presentation is different because audience participation is vital. The pre-sale will begin on 13th November, and the general public will be able to purchase tickets on 14th November, 2025.

The Story, the Stakes, and Why It Matters

In essence, 'Every Brilliant Thing' is a profoundly emotional examination of resilience, hope, and mental health. Starting with a small boy's attempt to cheer up his mother by enumerating the basic pleasures of life—ice cream, roller coasters, and yellow—the story progresses as he grows up and describes how the list expands and develops. The official synopsis for the play book reads, "If you live a long life and get to the end of it without ever once feeling crushingly depressed, then you probably weren't paying attention. Through adulthood, as the list grows, they learn the deep significance it has on their own life."

In addition to being converted into an HBO special, the play has already been performed in more than 80 countries. The production, directed by Radcliffe, is being positioned as both personal and significant. The piece "requires virtuosic skill" from its performer, according to Macmillan, who also applauded Radcliffe's "intelligence, quick wit, and charm" for bringing the audience-driven exchanges together.

For Radcliffe, this project marks a significant moment: returning to the stage in a role stripped down to raw performance, delivering heart-to-heart storytelling that highlights his acting chops beyond his blockbuster film legacy.
