Ed Sheeran has shared that his wife, Cherry Seaborn, plays a pivotal role in shaping his music career, often deciding which tracks make the final cut. Speaking on the latest episode of 'Not Gonna Lie', a podcast hosted by Kylie Kelce, Sheeran described Seaborn as having exceptional musical taste and the final say when it comes to his unreleased songs.

The Grammy-winning artist explained that he only shares new material with Cherry when she’s in a good mood. Her reactions, he said, carry significant weight—if she shows little interest in a track, he considers it unlikely to move forward. Her input has been so influential that Ed Sheeran jokingly noted that she has the power to determine a song’s fate.

Cherry Seaborn Selects Ed Sheeran's Songs

Sheeran, known for his prolific songwriting, mentioned that he often creates multiple songs in a single session. However, Seaborn helps filter through the volume with clarity. For example, on the day he first wrote 'Bad Habits,' he had several tracks ready to share. After playing them for Cherry, she immediately pointed out that 'Bad Habits' stood out and should be the one he continued working on. The song went on to become a massive hit, reaching No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Another track that received her stamp of approval was 'Shivers,' which also found commercial success, peaking at No. 4 on the same chart. Seaborn’s instincts, it seems, have a strong track record when it comes to predicting hits.

In addition to his wife, Ed Sheeran also seeks feedback from his two young children. He revealed that they have recently taken a liking to 'Sapphire,' a track from his upcoming album 'Play', due out in September. Kelce shared that her own toddler is a fan of the song too, calling it her favourite—something that delighted Sheeran, who expressed happiness that his music still resonates with a younger generation.

Currently, the singer is on the road with The Mathematics Tour, performing songs from previous albums, including 'Equals' and 'Subtract'. With 'Play' set for release later this year, fans can expect more chart-topping singles, possibly approved by the same trusted inner circle.
