During a special event hosted by Universal Pictures, the studio honoured the iconic director by naming a new screening room after him, celebrating his timeless contributions through films like 'Jaws' and 'E.T.'
At the event, Steven Spielberg addressed the audience with a heartfelt message about the evolving landscape of the movie industry. Most notably, he offered an update on his career, confirming that retirement is nowhere on his radar. He emphasised his continued passion for filmmaking and revealed that he’s actively working on multiple new projects.

Steven Spielberg is Coming Up With a UFO Movie Soon
This news arrives as excitement builds for Spielberg’s upcoming UFO-themed film, which is scheduled to hit theatres on 12th June, 2026. The untitled sci-fi project marks Spielberg’s return to the genre for the first time since 'Ready Player One' in 2018. The screenplay is penned by David Koepp, best known for his work on 'Jurassic Park', and is based on a story developed by Spielberg himself.
The film boasts a star-studded ensemble cast, including Wyatt Russell from 'Thunderbolts', Emily Blunt ('Oppenheimer'), and Josh O’Connor ('The Crown'), among many notable figures. Filming has officially come to a close, but the plot remains firmly under lock and key.

This project also marks Steven Spielberg's first directorial effort since 'The Fabelmans' in 2022—a deeply personal film inspired by his own childhood, which earned seven Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director.
The upcoming UFO film is being produced by Steven Spielberg and Kristie Macosko Krieger through Amblin Entertainment, with Chris Brigham also onboard as producer.
