Steven Spielberg is returning to familiar territory with a brand-new science fiction film centred on an extraterrestrial mystery.
The legendary director, now 78, is set to release his next movie in June, marking a major comeback to the genre he helped define. On 16th December, Universal Pictures unveiled the first trailer along with key details for the film, titled 'Disclosure Day.'
About 'Disclosure Day'
The movie features an impressive cast that includes Emily Blunt, Josh O'Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, and Colman Domingo. The story teases a world-changing revelation, asking how humanity would react if proof emerged that we are not alone. The film hints at a global moment when the truth becomes impossible to hide, building toward the event known as Disclosure Day.
News of the project first surfaced in April 2024, when it was revealed that Spielberg was developing a UFO-themed film based on his own original idea. He reunited with longtime collaborator David Koepp, who wrote the screenplay. Koepp has previously worked with Spielberg on major films such as 'Jurassic Park,' 'War of the Worlds,' and 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.'
Adding to the excitement, legendary composer John Williams is scoring the film, marking his 30th collaboration with Spielberg. Their partnership has produced some of the most iconic film music in cinema history.

Ahead of the trailer's release, mysterious billboards began appearing in cities like New York and Los Angeles. The signs featured a cryptic message hinting that everything would soon be revealed, along with Spielberg's name and the film's release date.
Spielberg's most recent film, 'The Fabelmans,' was released in 2022 and earned seven Academy Award nominations. With 'Disclosure Day,' he returns to the kind of science fiction storytelling that made him famous through classics like 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind,' 'E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial,' and 'War of the Worlds.'
'Disclosure Day' arrives in theatres on 12th June 2026.
