Warner Bros. Discovery is officially on the market, confirming recent industry rumours. A press release issued this morning revealed that multiple parties have expressed interest in acquiring the media giant, and the company is actively reviewing offers. While the release did not name specific bidders, speculation has grown that Paramount Global is among those considering a purchase.

The company's board of directors explained that it has launched a strategic review aimed at maximising shareholder value, essentially signalling that Warner Bros. Discovery is available for acquisition.

Warner Bros. Achievements

CEO and President David Zaslav highlighted the company's achievements and strategic positioning in the evolving media landscape. Under his leadership, Warner Bros. Discovery has advanced initiatives to strengthen its studios, scale HBO Max globally, and prepare the business for a potential split into two separate entities: Warner Bros. and Discovery Global.

Zaslav emphasised that the company's growing market value has attracted attention from potential buyers, prompting a comprehensive review of strategic options to unlock the full potential of its assets.

Paramount reportedly submitted an initial $20-per-share offer earlier this month, which was declined. The identities and offers of other interested parties remain undisclosed, but further details are expected in the coming days.

Warner Bros.' Blockbuster Year

2025 has been one of Warner Bros.' most profitable years in recent memory. The 'Minecraft Movie' emerged as the studio's highest-grossing release, earning over $950 million worldwide and already securing a sequel slated for 2027. 'Superman' also achieved global success, generating more than $600 million at the box office and performing strongly on streaming platforms.

Other notable hits included the horror films 'Sinners' and 'Weapons,' both receiving critical acclaim and strong box office returns. These successes highlight Warner Bros.' dominant position in the entertainment industry, making the company a highly attractive acquisition target amid the current sale process.
