The first trailer for ‘Wicked: For Good’ has officially landed online, offering a spellbinding preview ahead of its cinema release this November. The footage features Glinda, played by Ariana Grande, and Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba as they navigate the fallout from the events of last year’s blockbuster installment.
In the trailer, Glinda is seen warning Elphaba that she’s now being hunted, while Elphaba remains determined to confront the Wizard. Viewers are also treated to glimpses of the yellow brick road, a wedding, and the long-anticipated arrival of Dorothy—though her face is never shown—alongside the Tin Man, Scarecrow, and the Cowardly Lion.
The director, Jon M. Chu, explained that splitting the saga has allowed the story to be told in the way it was originally envisioned, offering greater depth and unexpected turns for the beloved characters. Speaking about Dorothy’s introduction, Chu noted that the creative team approached her role with care, aiming to highlight how her presence influences Elphaba and Glinda without shifting the focus away from them.

Chu also pointed out that the film aims to clarify certain narrative threads that may not have been fully explored in the stage version, while still maintaining sensitivity to the source material.
Erivo’s Original Song and Early Trailer Reactions Set High Expectations
The trailer was first revealed at CinemaCon in April, where it received enthusiastic feedback from attendees. Meanwhile, Erivo shared that she had co-written an original track for ‘For Good’, describing it as deeply personal. She said the song had a profound effect on the crew during filming, and she hoped it would resonate just as strongly with audiences, as it captures the essence of who Elphaba truly is.
