Guadagnino added that he would eagerly step into the director's chair if given the chance, a comment that Roberts responded to with laughter.

What is 'My Best Friend's Wedding' About?

The original story followed Roberts' Jules as she realised she was in love with her longtime best friend Michael just days before his wedding to Cameron Diaz's character, Kimmy. Her misguided attempts to sabotage the ceremony created one of the most memorable romantic comedies of the 1990s, also featuring standout performances from Rupert Everett, Carrie Preston, and Philip Bosco.

Celine Song's involvement has sparked curiosity about how the sequel will update the beloved tale for modern audiences. Following the acclaim of 'Past Lives,' which earned multiple Oscar nominations in 2024, and her star-studded film 'Materialists', Song's vision for the project is highly anticipated.

Meanwhile, Julia Roberts will next be seen in 'After the Hunt,' arriving in select theatres on 10th October before a wider release on 17th October.
