Will Smith Has Released a New Track ‘Work of Art’
Will Smith has dropped a brand-new track featuring Russ and his son Jaden Smith. Today, the seasoned actor and rapper premiered ‘Work of Art’, a fresh single from his upcoming album – his first in almost 20 years.
‘Work of Art’ is an inspiring song where Smith reconciles with himself over his varied perspectives on different issues. “I am the tongue, truth and the lie, both in tandem“.
He also appears to allude to his infamous slap of Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars: “I am a saint, but if you touch, I am a savage“.
The track includes Jaden on the chorus and Russ on a verse. Watch the music video for ‘Work of Art’ below.
The music video includes clips of Will Smith and Russ having a conversation in a museum. In these clips, Smith reveals that he’s recorded over 20 songs for his new project, but ‘Work of Art’ stood out to him as it embodies the themes he wants to rap about.
Smith debuted a new song at the 2024 BET Awards last month and first hinted at his upcoming album earlier in June.
Best known musically for ‘Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It’, ‘Men in Black’, and ‘Wild Wild West’, Will Smith hasn’t released an album since 2005. His latest solo release was 2017’s ‘Get Lit’, and his most recent work was the 2020 Joyner Lucas track ‘Will (Remix)’. Smith recently joined J Balvin onstage at Coachella in April, where he performed ‘Men in Black’.
