John Lennon’s Glasses and Abbey Road Photos Up for Auction
A pair of John Lennon’s tinted glasses and a collection of photographs of The Beatles at Abbey Road are set to be auctioned.
Both the glasses and the photos, which feature the Fab Four at the iconic London recording studio, will be up for bid on Wednesday, 31st July, at Farleigh Golf Club in Surrey.
According to BBC, Lennon’s glasses—round specs with blue-tinted lenses—were given to a visitor of Abbey Road Studios by Lennon himself in 1968.
A spokesperson from Catherine Southon Auctioneers & Valuers mentioned that Lennon handed the glasses to the man after he noticed them placed on top of a piano.
The spectacles, which Lennon allowed the young man to take after he spotted them on a piano, are expected to fetch around £3,000 at the auction.
Additionally, a collection of 33 black-and-white photos taken at Abbey Road, along with the copyright, will also be auctioned, estimated to bring in £200 to £300. These photos include images of Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, as well as producer George Martin, taken during the photoshoot for The Beatles’ album cover featuring the iconic zebra crossing.
In other news, Travis recently announced that the piano used for the single ‘Gaslight’ was the same one The Beatles used for ‘Lady Madonna’.
Meanwhile, Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler has discussed The Beatles’ significant influence on his career, noting their unique impact on the music scene at the time.
The Beatles continue to captivate and inspire music fans and artists around the world with their innovative sound and cultural impact. Their influence remains evident across various aspects of the music industry, from classic hits to enduring legacy items like the auctioned glasses and photos. The band’s ability to push boundaries and set trends has cemented their place as one of the most influential musical acts in history.
