Juice WRLD Agreed For Rehab Days Before Death
Juice WRLD’s untimely death was a reminder for fans, of the hold drugs can have in the hip-hop world. Recently, the late rapper’s label head, Lil Bibby, explained in an interview that Juice did have people around him that cared about his health and sobriety.
In the interview, Lil Bibby reveals other details, including that he got Juice WRLD to agree to go to rehab before his accidental overdose.
The Accidental Overdose
Back in December 2019, Juice WRLD tragically died at the age of 21 after an accidental overdose. He suffered a seizure in an airport, and autopsy reports initially came back inconclusive. It was learned later that the seizure was brought on due to an accidental overdose. At the time of his death, both oxycodone and codeine were found in Juice WRLD’s system.
Lil Bibby revealed that Juice WRLD’s team found out he was doing multiple doses of Percocet, about a week before his death. Shocked and worried for the rapper’s health, his team staged an intervention where Juice WRLD eventually and reluctantly agreed to go to rehab.
Bibby continued to mention that, despite convincing Juice to enter rehab, the rapper wasn’t ready to kick his habit completely. “He said, ‘Alright, I’ll go. I’ll go,’” Bibby recalled. “‘But I’m not stopping.’ Like, ‘I’ll lower my dosage…but I like doing it too much.’”
A Little Too Late
Lil Bibby said; “We already had him signed up for rehab. He agreed to do – because that was like pulling teeth with him. I found out that he was doing four [Percocets at a time].” Bibby said that started to freak him and started reaching out to people telling them “Look we got to send this kid to rehab.”
He added, “I’m telling everyone because I’m thinking ‘That’s a lot.’ Because all people I know only do at the max one.”
On December 8, 2019, after suffering cardiac arrest at Chicago’s Midway International Airport, Juice WRLD, real name Jarad Higgins, passed away. He was only 21 years old.
