The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards are shaping up to be a major night in entertainment. The event, which is scheduled for 7th September at UBS Arena in New York, will be televised live on CBS for the first time. It will also be streamed on Paramount+ and aired on MTV. As the sole host, hip-hop icon LL Cool J will perform, bringing his distinctive style and enthusiasm to the event.

The schedule of performers this year is jam-packed with both up-and-coming artists and legends. Following her 2024 VMA debut, Sabrina Carpenter is scheduled to make a comeback. Just before the show, on 29th August, she will release her eagerly awaited album, 'Man's Best Friend,' for which she is nominated in eight categories, including Video of the Year for 'Manchild.' Alex Warren, the former viral sensation who is now a musician and is enjoying the popularity of his tune 'Ordinary' will also be performing.
Latin music will be front and centre with performances by Ricky Martin and J Balvin. The inaugural 'Latin Icon Award' will be given to Martin, a worldwide celebrity with more than 40 years of impact. Balvin and DJ Snake will play their song 'Noventa' live for the first time, which will be DJ Snake's first VMA appearance.

Busta Rhymes, an accomplished rapper, will also take the stage to accept the 'Rock the Bells Visionary Award,' which honours his enduring contributions to hip-hop and musical creativity. With nominations for Best New performer and Best Alternative, Sombr, a rising alternative performer, will make his VMA debut to finish off a successful year.
Honours for Icons and Trailblazers
Music icons who have paved the path for future generations will be honoured at the VMAs. Ricky Martin's contribution to introducing Latin pop to international audiences is honoured with the Latin Icon Award. In recognition of his decades-long influence on hip-hop and visual storytelling, Busta Rhymes will be given the 'Rock the Bells Visionary Award.'
