Almost two decades after Ben Stiller first brought the quirky night security guard Larry Daley to life, 'Night at the Museum' is officially getting a fresh reboot. Fans of the original franchise can look forward to a new chapter, as 21 Laps Entertainment — the production company led by 'Deadpool & Wolverine' director Shawn Levy — begins developing a brand-new instalment for Disney’s 20th Century Studios.
The upcoming film brings a brand-new story and characters, delivering a fresh twist on the classic franchise. While Shawn Levy directed the first three films released in 2006, 2009, and 2014, he’s returning as a producer for this reboot. He’ll be joined by longtime collaborators Dan Levine and Emily Morris, executive vice president of 21 Laps.

The screenplay is being written by Tripper Clancy, known for comedic projects like 'Stuber' and the Kevin Hart-led series 'Die Hart'. Although details about the cast, director, and release date remain under wraps, the announcement has sparked excitement among fans eager to revisit the museum’s magical world.
About The Original 'Night at the Museum'
The original 'Night at the Museum' was loosely based on the 1993 children’s book by Milan Trenc. Larry Daley, a divorced dad, lands a night guard gig at New York’s Museum of Natural History—only to find the exhibits spring to life after sunset, thanks to a mysterious Egyptian artefact.
As Larry navigates the chaos of historical figures roaming the halls — including Theodore Roosevelt, Attila the Hun, and a mischievous cowboy-miniature duo — he also uncovers a plot involving the museum’s older guards, who attempt to steal the artefact’s powers for themselves.

The star-studded original trilogy featured notable performances from Robin Williams, Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney, among others.
The sequels expanded the universe beyond New York, taking audiences to Washington, D.C.’s Smithsonian Institution and London’s British Museum, all while keeping the heart and humour of the original intact.
While it’s still unknown whether any familiar faces will return in the new film, fans can expect the same blend of adventure, comedy, and historical fantasy that made the original movies a box office hit and a family favourite.
