Miley Cyrus has sparked speculation among fans that her latest song, ‘Every Girl You’ve Ever Loved’, might be a subtle dig at fellow pop star Dua Lipa. The track, which Cyrus premiered live at a surprise show in New York over the weekend, features lyrics that many believe hint at Lipa.

In the song, Cyrus describes a woman who “speaks the perfect French,” “can dance the night away,” and “still, she’ll never break a sweat.” Fans on social media were quick to connect these traits to Lipa. The multilingual line stood out, as Lipa was recently heard speaking fluent French on a remix of ‘Talk Talk’ by Charli XCX and Troye Sivan. The reference to dancing and not breaking a sweat was interpreted by some as a nod to Lipa’s polished performances—though some also saw it as a callback to past criticism Lipa received for her early dance style, which inspired the viral meme “go girl, give us nothing.”

That meme stemmed from an earlier phase of Lipa’s career when her stage presence was mocked online. In an interview with The Guardian last year, Lipa admitted the moment had been “hurtful” and “humiliating,” especially when critics questioned her Grammy win for Best New Artist and predicted she wouldn’t have longevity in the industry.

There has long been speculation that tension exists between Cyrus and Lipa, dating back to their 2020 collaboration ‘Prisoner.’ The pair haven’t worked together since, and this has only fuelled theories that the new track may be directed at Lipa. ‘Every Girl You’ve Ever Loved’ appears on Cyrus’ latest album ‘Something Beautiful’, and many fans believe the pointed lyrics might not be accidental.

Miley Teases Bold 10th Album at Intimate ‘Something Beautiful’ Listening Event

In support of the album, Cyrus recently held an intimate performance at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles, where she reportedly invited fans for what was billed as a listening event. During the evening, she revealed that ‘Something Beautiful’ was intended as a prelude to a more experimental 10th album, which she hinted would push boundaries even further.

Cyrus, who co-produced the album with Shawn Everett (known for work with Kacey Musgraves and Alabama Shakes), previously said the project would carry the boldness of ‘The Wall’ by Pink Floyd—but with more glamour, pop culture influence, and a fashion-forward twist.
