Joe Jonas Says 'South Park' Parody Upset His Brothers: “They Really Went for Us”

Joe Jonas recently opened up about the South Park parody of the Jonas Brothers, revealing that his brothers Nick and Kevin weren’t too thrilled with how they were portrayed. The episode, which originally aired in 2009 during the show’s 13th season, mocked the trio during their peak Disney Channel days.

The episode, titled ‘The Ring’, made reference to Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience and depicted the band as pawns of a ruthless Disney corporation. In the storyline, the company was shown using the band’s image to sell s*x appeal to a young audience, all while forcing them to wear purity rings to maintain a wholesome public image. At one point in the episode, the characters were even shown being physically assaulted by a cartoon version of Mickey Mouse for stepping out of line.

Speaking on an upcoming episode of Mythical Kitchen’s Last Meals, Joe said that he had actually enjoyed the parody, even if his brothers didn’t. According to Entertainment Weekly, he recalled being the only one who appreciated the humour. Joe explained that as a longtime South Park fan, he immediately understood the satirical intent and thought it was hilarious. He believed being targeted by the show was a kind of compliment, since they mock those who are relevant.

He mentioned that the creators “really went for us,” but added that being mocked by such a well-known show was, in his eyes, an honour—especially the scene where Mickey Mouse beats them up. Joe said he now considers it one of his favourite episodes and that he and his brothers can laugh about it today. He called the parody a unique claim to fame.

Meanwhile, South Park is gearing up for its 27th season, with a new trailer teasing spoofs involving Diddy, ketamine, and even a fictional war with Canada. The new season premieres on July 9, and UK viewers will be able to stream it via Paramount+.
