Taylor Swift had a whirlwind romance with Harry Styles of One Direction fame from late 2012 to early 2013. The media buzzed with every detail of their relationship, but according to Swift’s friend, the real story was quite different from what was reported.

Swift’s friend revealed to Vanity Fair that Harry Styles had pursued Taylor for a year before they started dating. “He wore her down,” the friend said, adding that they grew close by spring. Styles was smitten, telling her, “You’re amazing—I want to be with you. I want to do this.”

Taylor hugged Harry and they chatted, with Taylor enthusiastically cheering him on during his performance. It was a heartwarming sight, showing that all was well between them, despite their past.
