Henry Cavill Was “Sick to His Stomach” After Smoking Cigars For ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Cameo
Henry Cavill, known for his iconic role as Superman, had a rough time on the set of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ Director Shawn Levy recently shared that Cavill was “sick to the stomach” for eight hours straight after smoking cigars during his cameo appearance.
In the movie, Deadpool stumbles across various Wolverine variants while hopping through the multiverse. While most of these variants are portrayed by Hugh Jackman, one notable exception is Cavill, who plays a cigar-smoking Wolverine variant, humorously dubbed “the Cavillrine.”

Levy recounted, “[He] not only had that pumped-up muscular body but kept that cigar lit and in his mouth for the entirety of the shoot day.” Unfortunately, the next day Cavill felt the effects of inhaling cigar smoke for so long, but he remained professional throughout the ordeal.
Cavill’s cameo came shortly after the announcement in December 2022 that he would not be returning as Superman in James Gunn’s revamped DC universe. Levy explained, “Given that Deadpool is in constant conversation with culture, it felt like a great opportunity to first of all cast Henry Cavill in a part that he would kick ass at, but also to poke fun at that other comic-book-founded movie studio and play with some self-awareness there.”
The film also features a cameo from Chris Evans as Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch, a role he reprised from the ‘Fantastic Four’ movies in 2005 and 2007.
