Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck Split: ‘Moving on Separately’ 

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are contemplating their next steps as summer comes to an end. The 55-year-old Atlas actress “hasn’t seen Ben for weeks,” a source told PEOPLE. Lopez has been spending her time in New York City and the Hamptons, where she celebrated her birthday with a large party attended by friends and family, but without Affleck, 51.

Affleck, on the other hand, has mostly been in Los Angeles, and Lopez recently returned to L.A. “They’re moving on separately. Jennifer is looking for a new home to start fresh,” the source added.

Indications that their marriage was in trouble surfaced in May, with reports stating that Lopez and Affleck were living in separate houses.

Though they presented a united front at graduation events and other family milestones, they later embarked on separate summer plans and spent their second wedding anniversary apart in July. “Considering everything that’s happening, Jennifer is having a good summer,” the source noted. “She’s been able to focus on what’s next and has enjoyed time with her kids, family, and friends.”

“She always maintains a positive attitude even when things aren’t perfect,” the source added.

Representatives for both stars did not respond to PEOPLE’s requests for comment. Lopez, who cancelled her summer concert tour to spend time with family, is producing a Netflix series adaptation of Emily Henry’s novel Happy Place.

Her upcoming film roles include ‘Unstoppable’, premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival, and the musical ‘Kiss of the Spider Woman’, both produced by Affleck’s company, Artists Equity. Affleck recently completed filming ‘The Accountant 2’, a sequel to his 2016 action movie, and will co-star with Matt Damon in the Netflix crime thriller ‘RIP’.
