Katy Perry gave fans a night to remember after making a surprise appearance at a themed club night in Melbourne during the Australian leg of her ‘Lifetimes’ tour. The pop star, who has been performing multiple shows in Sydney and Melbourne, dropped in unannounced at Chasers Nightclub on 14th June, for the ‘Club Katy’ event.
Speaking to the crowd during her appearance, Perry said they had played a significant role in her life, referring to them as her “chosen family.” She added that, as their “mother,” she felt it was only right to take care of them—announcing that the bar would be open for an hour on her tab.
This surprise followed an incident at one of her Sydney concerts, where a fan disrupted her performance. On 9th June, while performing her 2008 hit ‘Hot N’ Cold’ at the Qudos Bank Arena, Perry was interrupted mid-set by an audience member who climbed onto the stage, placed his arm around her, and began dancing.

The intruder was later identified as Johnson Wen, a TikTok personality known for gate-crashing live events. He had previously disrupted The Weeknd’s show in Melbourne and The Chainsmokers’ performance at the Palm Tree Festival in Sydney.

As reported by The Sydney Morning Herald, Wen was taken into custody and faced charges for unlawfully entering restricted property and hindering someone in the course of their duties. He was granted conditional bail and is due to appear in Burwood Local Court on 23rd June. Additionally, he has been banned from the Sydney Olympic Park precinct for six months.
In a separate moment of pop camaraderie, Perry also expressed her admiration for Lady Gaga, saying she was “so proud” after attending her concert in Mexico City.
