'One Battle After Another' had a standout night at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, taking home the top prize for Best Motion Picture in the Musical or Comedy category.

The awards ceremony took place on 11th January, where the Paul Thomas Anderson-directed film beat strong competition from 'Blue Moon,' 'Bugonia,' 'Marty Supreme,' 'No Other Choice' and 'Nouvelle Vague.'

Other 'One Battle After Another' Wins

The 2026 Golden Globe Awards were hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser and aired live on CBS, with streaming available on Paramount+ in the United States.

'One Battle After Another' stars Benicio Del Toro as Sensei St. Carlos and is currently streaming on HBO Max. The film is Leonardo DiCaprio's latest project and Anderson's first release since 'Licorice Pizza' in 2021. The story blends political satire with an emotional father-daughter relationship and features a strong ensemble cast including DiCaprio, Taylor, Regina Hall, Sean Penn and Chase Infiniti.

'One Battle After Another' Nine Nominations

The movie led all nominees this year with nine Golden Globe nominations. It also entered the ceremony with momentum after winning three Critics' Choice Awards earlier this month, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay.

'One Battle After Another' Competing Films

Among the films competing in the same category was 'Blue Moon,' starring Ethan Hawke in his latest collaboration with director Richard Linklater. The film follows Hawke as legendary lyricist Lorenz Hart and explores his creative partnership with Richard Rodgers during the debut of the musical 'Oklahoma!' in 1943. Hawke earned a Golden Globe acting nomination for his role.

'Bugonia,' directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, stars Emma Stone as a pharmaceutical CEO who is kidnapped by two men convinced she is an alien planning to take over Earth. Stone and Jesse Plemons both received acting nominations for the film.

Timothée Chalamet also stood out this awards season for 'Marty Supreme,' where he plays a professional table tennis player chasing a world championship dream in the early 1950s. The film received three Golden Globe nominations, and Chalamet recently won Best Actor for the role at the Critics' Choice Awards.

Another nominee, 'No Other Choice,' comes from South Korean director Park Chan-wook and stars Lee Byung-hun as a man pushed to extreme actions after losing his job. The film also earned a nomination in the Best Non-English Language Motion Picture category.

Rounding out the nominees was 'Nouvelle Vague,' Richard Linklater's tribute to the French New Wave classic 'Breathless.' Zoey Deutch stars as Jean Seberg in a film that revisits the making of the iconic 1960 movie.

The 83rd Golden Globe Awards were held at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, celebrating the year's most talked-about films and performances across cinema and television.
